2023 Colors of the Year- Raspberry Blush by Benjamin Moore

“Joie de Vivre”: this is an exact phrase I had already written down while brainstorming for the 2023 Colors of the Year topic, and it turns out Benjamin Moore agrees, according to their COTY 2023 page. Joy is one of the color themes of 2023. Yes, please!

Benjamin Moore’s Raspberry Blush is a joyful, zippy, tart, pinkish red. I don’t think of the color ‘raspberry’; instead, I think of it as a coral. It’s a hip and industrious shade, not lavish; rather, it is richly pigmented, high-quality, and modern. (Yes, ‘industrious is the adjective I meant: I think of hard-working art students hustling, slaying the day with their creative ventures!)

A specially-curated Spotify playlist titled “Raspberry Blush,” linked on Benjamin Moore’s site, reflects the imagined musings I described above. What a pleasant surprise and an elevated additional touch. The playlist features and is based on the song “Raspberry Blush” by Chromeo, a Canadian electro-funk duo. Per Benjamin Moore, “Chromeo’s new song, ‘Raspberry Blush,’ celebrates the positivity and enjoyment of life that both color and music influence.” The featured songs certainly sound ‘raspberry’ to me! Take a listen to the playlist, and I think you’ll agree.

Raspberry Blush has a well-earned seat at the front of the 2023 color palette, which is fresh, mod, and anything but traditional. Benjamin Moore says this was intentional: 

“Our Color Trends 2023 palette was chosen for its distinct presence and personality. Each of these eight confident hues offers inspiration and creativity while encouraging a push beyond the traditional to experience truly exceptional color.”

John prefers Starry Blue from the Trends palette, calling it “very bold and evocative.” I think the whole 2023 Trends Palette is wonderfully atypical and delightful, and I’m eager to see what upcoming years’ palettes will showcase.
