This cramped 80's style kitchen was in need of updating. Given that the kitchen was in the lower level of this split level contemporary located in Wild Harbor Estates, our biggest challenge was working with the concrete slab that was topped by slate. Because we changed the layout, the floor needed to be repaired and patched. In addition, we had to trench in a power supply to the island by going under the stonework. This new layout is expansive and allows the homeowners to share cooking duties and entertain without feeling boxed in. If you look carefully at the before pictures, you will see the two fish over the stove swimming away from each other. In the new kitchen they reappear (thanks to our careful restoration efforts) over the stove once again!
