Sherwin-Williams had new beginnings on their mind when they created Evergreen Fog SW 9130. Evergreen Fog is about renewal. An introduction video acquaints us with Evergreen Fog by setting the scene in a forest full of morning sun streaming and sparkling through the trees. This scene inspires a sense of calm and the essence of a nature-retreat experience. In the early morning in the woods, you are alone with the natural world and your thoughts. It is a new day; you can take it in any direction you want to. The world is your oyster. But you are also humbled and awed by the nature around you. The sun in the trees and the sound of rain on leaves remind you that you are part of this beautiful world beyond concrete and glass.

If you take that nature-inspiration experience, boil it down to an essence, and create a paint color, you will discover Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog. Sherwin-Williams describes this shade as “a versatile and calming hue, a chameleon color of gorgeous green-meets-gray, with just a bit of blue. It's a simple but sophisticated wash of beautiful, organic color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade.”

Possibilities abound for using Evergreen Fog in your home. Sherwin-Williams describes it as nurturing, comforting, and calming in their blog, Tinted. It is a gentle shade that can paint bedroom and nursery walls and creates the perfect cozy-rustic-vintage ‘Cottagecore’ vibe for any other room in your house.

Wellness is trending for all the right reasons. This has been a rough two years for all of us. Many of the 2021 and 2022 colors of the year are reminiscent of nature because it evokes wellness and growth. Nature is a cycle of birth, life, and renewal; it is the antithesis of our usual, plugged-in 2020s lives. Architectural Digest quotes Sue Wadden, Sherwin-Williams’s in-house director of color, who explains further:

“From a color psychology standpoint, [green] is a color of nature and revitalization, new beginnings and growth. As we emerge into whatever this new space is, green is emblematic of that newness.”
