In 2019, a Chicago-based upscale interior designer - Allyson Muller - contacted me via Yelp (a popular business review website). Allyson was interested in restoring her recently acquired condo in New Seabury's Maushop Village.
Interior designers may sometimes be difficult to work with, so I was originally apprehensive to accept her as a client. Despite my reservations, Allyson persuaded me to collaborate with her on her project after several back and forth chats.
My crew and I worked in Maushop Village over the course of the fall and winter of that year. It was the perfect wintery ghost town for us and ideal for us! Despite some difficulties we faced in realizing Allyson's thoughts and vision, I delighted on many days looking out over a chilly and icy Nantucket Sound.
Some of the obstacles we faced involved fitting a separate soaking tub and a walk-in shower into a space designed for a tub only. (I checked my measurements multiple times!)
We also had to figure out where to locate plumbing lines for the new half bath under the stairs. Additionally, we had to move the washer/dryer from the second floor into a tiny closet on the first. During this time, the bulk of my communication with Allyson took place via text while she was recovering from a debilitating illness back in Chicago.
Many of the text conversations were hours long as we discussed specific design options and choices. (My phone and fingers got quite the workout during those marathon texting sessions!)
*Maushop Village has strict rules about contractors not working in Maushop Village during the spring and summer seasons.
It was a true delight to read Allyson's review of our work on Yelp.
